L.M. Montgomery (1874-1942) was a Canadian author who wrote both fiction and non-fiction books referred to as “Legacy Vintage Novels.” She started her long career in 1908 with the publication of her first young adult novel: Anne of Green Gables. The much loved and heartwarming series of books eventually produced a television series, several films, and a long running musical. The Anne of Green Gables series details the life and times of an 11 year old, red- headed orphan who is adopted by an elderly brother and sister who thought they were adopting a boy to help out on their farm The six novels detail Anne’s life, full of adventure and “imaginings” from her first day with the Cuthberts through her career as a teacher, her marriage and adulthood ending with the loss of one of her six children in WW1. L.M. ( Lucy Maud) went on to write over 50 novels about life on Prince Edward Islands in the early 1900s. She also wrote a series of non-fiction books and journals chronicling her own life and career as an author and journalist.
